Saw the Hamsters last night in Farnham. It was, as usual, brilliant fun. Slim had a cold so we had to do some singing for him. He dedicated Voodoo Chile to me (I was standing right in front of him and the stage is only about a foot high) "because I've never seen a lady in a Zappa T-shirt before [Broadway the Hard Way grey sweatshirt] - it's usually just geezers. Zappa was the man". On the way out later I wished his cold better and he said he really loved the t-shirt and Frank was a hero of his. OK, I get that the stupid person is trying to make a name for himself by being controversial, but the comment under the review .... http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2011/nov/30/zappa-plays-zappa-review?newsfeed=true I don't get it.
Noise is doing my head in. We're surrounded by loft conversion works (2) and scaffolding going up next door for goodness knows what. Everyone trying to beat the VAT increase I suppose.
It's p*****g down. It's Monday. We had planned to go to the coast at the w/e and maybe see the Vulcan bomber flying again at an airshow (not with tickets as still skint, but h**l, it's the sky - how can you not see it - it's huge. It p****d down so we didn't bother going. The Vulcan didn't either. Bank holiday next w/e - another chance to see it at another airshow even closer (actually where they film Top Gear) but being a bank holiday w/e it's bound to p**s down again. Summer eh? Who needs it? WE DO!
I don't like that you now have to join a group to make a comment - I wanted to comment along with many other people that I don't like that location and DOB has been removed from profiles. I like to know a bit about people to see if we have something in common apart from Zappa before making friends. I'm not going to join a group to make one comment so this place has just become 100% less fun. Again, I'm not interested in points or making friends with the whole planet but now everyone's a stranger from goodness knows where and it's not the same anymore. That and every group conversation you go to has been vomited on. It's a real shame. There were some nice people here.
As a summer holiday goes, and our overnight at Brighton was all we're gonna get, it couldn't be beat. Very happy.
The Red Arrows flew right over my house on their way to the Goodwood Festival of Speed today. Very impressive.
Thankful that Brown's going ... but wondering what we'll get now
