Arban-Vizzutti is Arbans Complete Trumpet Method re-released with notes by Vizzutti on how to play the exercises. I have several of Allen's technique books for jazz and classical also. Have you ever tried his Sonata No.2 for Trumpet and Piano? VERY challenging. Bars 39-45 goes from low F# to Double High C in 16th notes with some difficult intervals at MM=120.
I am a member of International Trumpet Guild and have seen Vizzutti live a number of times through the years. In Banff Canada in 2008 he played a lecture/demonstration @ 9:00 AM that was amazing. My lips are still asleep at that time of day =) There is a clip of his performance on YouTube. Check it out.
BTW the ITG conference was in your back yard this year with many performances at the Opera House. Brian Evans was the host and he plays in the Opera Orchestra. Are you a member of ITG?
Hardee, har har! Loved the "... back pressure gone to your head" comment! I resemble that remark.
Thats brill !!! I love all kinds of music ... very cool that you play the trumpet, look in my friends for Doily (or do a search) she also plays trumpet, One of my first concerts was Chuck Mangione when I was 7 ... my fav at the moment though has to be Kermit Ruffins. Look forward to more chats :)
