Tommy Quirk's Updates
Note to self: Never argue with an Irish woman over the term 'inclement weather'. Let's just say we spent three hours sitting on a cold metal bench outside watching a graduation ceremony last night and we weren't dressed for the occasion. Don't get me wrong. We looked fabulous, just a wee bit FROZEN.
This is for everyone on Facebook. There is a scholarship available for Dweezilla this year (sponsored by Lagunitas Brewing Company). Here's hoping that someone from this site wins. Here is the link: http://diymusician.cdbaby.com/2013/05/win-a-free-scholarship-to-dweezil-zappas-music-boot-camp/
What a beautiful looking day out there. The sun is shining in through the windows of my home office. One of the joys of working from home on Tuesdays (besides the extra two hours of sleep). Everyone enjoy your day !!
Milwaukee and Indianapolis booked (so far). Everything has been listed as General Admission so far. No Sound checks this time around ?
Everyone keep an eye on those sale dates. Friends in the Midwest - Milwaukee and Indianapolis go on sale today.
All kinds of problem replying to other people's posts. I am also having the same issue as Mars logging in and out.
My father had his kidney removed on Friday. They found cancer in the tube connecting his kidney and bladder. The surgery went very well. He came out of the surgery and was lucid and joking with the nurses. He got the results back from the biopsies yesterday. Everything else came back clean. They found no other signs of cancer in his body. He may need to go through a round of chemo once he heals from the surgery. I think we can all live with that. BIG EXHALE from the Quirk family.
Went out to see 97Nine play on Saturday night. Got a message on Facebook that if we got there by 8:30pm, we would get a 'special surprise'. Made in the door with a few minutes to spare. We find GUITAR GOD Dave Uhrich on stage with trusty Ibanez in hand. He spent the next 35 minutes going through some of his classic solo pieces. I was like a kid in the candy store. The man should be playing in arenas. One of the truly great guitarists of our time.
Wolfgang is spending the next few nights at Midlothian Music. He is getting some rather sharp edges filed away on his stainless steel frets. My bedroom seemed a little empty this morning not seeing him there. Please keep him in your thoughts.
Watching Led Zeppelin:Celebration Day with Tadhg. He started bouncing around to the music and making sounds to match the sounds that he was hearing for the first time. He looked up at me as if he was saying 'I get you Man !!'. I just smiled. He then proceeded to pull off his sock and stuff it in his mouth. As he looked back at me I said 'I get you Man too !!'
OK ...I am back to being healthy after a couple of nasty bugs. Second swim meet is this coming Sunday. I have been in the water twice in the past 30-odd days. This is going to be an interesting week trying to get ready for this meet !!
I just wanted to wish everyone a Safe, Happy and Healthy New Year. Take care of yourself and be excellent to others. Peace !!
Finally got a chance to watch Jason Becker: Not Dead Yet. What an absolutely amazing story of love, dedication and perseverance. So incredibly sad, yet so inspirational. You amazing human being Jason.
Joe Satriani - Surfing With the Alien - 25th Anniversary Part 1 http://www.inthestudio.net/online-only-interviews/joe-satriani-surfing-alien-25th-anniversary/ I can't believe that it's been 25 years already. This album sounds as good today as the the day that it was released. I can't tell you how many copies of this cassette/CD that I have bought in this time frame. Such a huge part of my life back in the late 80s. My wife and I even had Always With Me, Always With You, played at our wedding.
