In case anyone would like to have a look around one of the coolest record stores out there, I shot a small tour. It's Gold Million Records, which boasts to house one of the largest vinyl Frank Zappa collections on the east coast( yep, it's purrty dang big) AND it is where Cal Schenkel does his in store appearance every year for Record Store Day and more. They are the permanent gallery to a lot of his original work and more. Gold Million Records http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HguoY3xRO1I Here is a link to my photos from iside the store from 2011 when Cal was there as well. http://www.dweezilzappaworld.com/photo_albums/1782/photos They have an online store, I've put the link to it in the description area of the video...I am doing a project with the owners right now, when I have more info to put out there in the cyber world, I'll be sure to let y'all know. :)
Oh my, guess who just found out they are going to see Foo Fighters tomorrow night at Bamboozle AND Mick Jagger/Foo Fighters with a possible cameo appearance from Keith Richards, Ron Wood and more at SNL?????????? Spontaneous Gypsy Pirate adventures rock, arrrgggghhhhh!!!!!! My friends rock too!!! I love me some Erica Franklin( AKA Suzy Creamcheese) right about now.
Dear Friends..... https://www.facebook.com/Twistedsouth/posts/10150822754484360?notif_t=feed_comment You do not need a Facebook account to read this news. Thank you everyone.
Thanks everyone today for your kind words, thoughts, healing vibes and prayers for Patrick and our family. The surgery was successful and now the road to recovery begins. My family rocks when a crisis happens and we may have our ups and downs like every family in this world, but when the crap hits the fan, we Blomgren's really know how to get paper towels and wipe that doo-doo off. Thanks again.
Oh me oh my...I cannot beleive it but coming up on May 9th will be our 100th episode of Twisted South Radio!! And what better way for this show to kick a** than to welcome back one of my most favorite musicians on this planet to the show, Billy Hulting!!
I put a new blog up with some fantastic artwork available for one of the shows coming up. http://www.dweezilzappaworld.com/posts/1685-zappa-plays-zappa-gig-poster UPDATE: I contacted the artist to find out if there are any of these available for people who will not be at this show, there are a very small number available for a great price if anyone is interested!! Here is his response: "way cool! thank you for contacting me. you prompted me to update my website with that poster and a couple other new pieces, I forgot to do so! I am home from my whirlwind trip to Florida where I did everything from see The Outlaws to bang my head to industrial German goth with Rammstein and basically ate and drank my way across South Florida. Thank you Florida, you were good to me and I will be coming back again one day to live there again.
I can't believe this is happening...I have never seen anything like this in my entire life and I am not going to miss the chance to shoot this while I am here( I've been on vacation in Florida since the 13th) http://www.fgra.org/stampede/default.asp
Feeling the need to have my face blown off I dug out the private stock video from Dweezilla I in 2010, specifically the vid shot the first night of camp at Full Moon on a hot summer night inside an even hotter performance space where ZPZ played myself and approx. 59 other people a private concert. The space was no bigger than perhaps a 3 car garage, we were all dripping sweat, excited, not knowing what to expect from the week to come and Dweezil had just got his first fractal effects board. For those of you who were there, you remember the magic that happened at the end when they broke into Yo Mamma and Wild Love, for those of you not there, all I can say is I wish you were because as many times as I have seen them after that night, something cosmic and universal came together and converged during those 16 minutes that I am sure as long as I live I will never see again. But I'll keep trying.... This is NOT that performance but one that happened 5 days later in a public venue, this is good but baby, that first one was spectacular. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T5AJjVKu5V8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ha3-frd3TWE
Happy 77th Birthday to Herb Alpert today! My parents had a ton of influence on the music I know, love and appreciate today, when I think back to some of the stuff I was exposed to it boggles my mind. I have a vivid memory of cruising in Dad's car and there was an 8-track player in it, he had just bought this new 8 track , we used to go to the music store together and he kept telling me the band's name but I was too young to pronounce his name right, so I resorted to calling the tape by the name of the cover glued on it. That 8-track is still known by this name to me today. "Dad...play the whipped cream sexy lady music again please!" " Ok, Maureen, you ready for horns?" "Yes, Dad, I was born for the horns" da da da da da da????? da da da da ??? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VFgKIz1SrlI
Putting Philadelphia Vampires on the map, here's the first vampire to sue the nations 4th largest bank for irregularities in his mortgage, levy a judgement against their offices in the Comcast building and WIN! Take that Wells Fargo. http://www.colbertnation.com/the-colbert-report-videos/393272/july-27-2011/difference-makers---patrick-rodgers
Introducing my soon to be step-grandson Devon. I am exposing him to Zappa already. http://www.dweezilzappaworld.com/photo_albums/2585/photos We had a deep discussion today on trying to figure out what he should call me and we couldn't come up with anything we liked. I'd surely like some suggestions from everyone.
Just scored 4th row center tixs for Morristown NJ...so that's 2 shows in The Garden State I'll be going to. Unless I hit the powerball that looks to be the extent of my tour for this summer but hey, those 2 shows will pack a punch. I can't wait to hear the new bass player Kurt as well. It's a good day!!!!!!
OK...better late than never. I just started walking again as exercise. For so long after the 2 knee surgeries and the broken leg ( from dancing onstage during "Keep It Greasy") it made it painful and difficult to keep a daily walk in the plans. I need to get back in shape after these last 2 1/2 years of not being able to.
May I be the first to welcome in open arms to the fold the new bass player for DZPZ, Kurt Morgan. I have complete faith that your bass thumps will fill the heart of my soul. "pssssstttt...new bass player has been officially announced if anyone happens to have missed that. A monster just as I knew. He played bass on the birthday bundle that came out, well... a couple of the songs on it. Kurt Morgan. It's listed on the other site. http://www.zappaplayszappa.com/tourdates.html"
I just FREAKED OUT my media player again by loading every Zappa song I have stored digitally. It is telling me I have 150, 691, 366 hours of Zappa music playing. Looks like I'm gonna be busy for a bit.
Some good information for anyone getting tixs for the Englewood show in NJ. If you actually call the Bergan Center and purchase tickets through them on the phone instead of ticketmaster, the service fee is sliced in half AND the service fee goes directly to the theater for restoration instead of paying a big biznet corporation like ticketmaster. That's what I'll be doing. I'd rather see the extra fee going to help keep a place like this kept for all people to enjoy future events at.
ok...3 days to figure out which ZPZ shows I am going to attend on the new leg of the tour. AHAHAHAHHA, so many shows, so little funds. http://www.ticketmaster.com/Zappa-Plays-Zappa-tickets/artist/1017931
Just got a response from someone here after I had sent my family photo montage out to all my friends. Mystery DZW Member-your not dying are you? Great movie by the way.The brown refridgerator brought back some memories. Had one just like it comin' up Me-Shessh...good thing I'm not dying. Nah...I get sentimental and nostalgic every now and then and figure I should just tell people how I feel about them now, when I am not dying or other people are not dying because in reality life is short and you never know when someone you love and care about will die. Brown refrigerator is better than brown shoes or lipstick. :) In case you didn't see the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hzMVVwBZ8Is&feature=channel_video_title
Is such a happy woman right now, my daughter just got engaged and I couldn't be more thrilled. There's gonna be a Blomgren Wedding!!!

Jam packed with great music from Layla and there could be a special surprise or 2.
There is no winning when people cannot open their eyes to read or even see themselves in the mirror for what they are and who they are. I have to take a long look at myself and decide if I want or even need to surround myself with so much negativity anymore. It's dragging me down man..and to think a small bridge was built that seemed like it would hold the weight of us all only to be hanging by a thread from the weight of the ignorant and blind
I'm not usually one for watching The Tonight Show but my buddy is going to be on there tonight. He plays a bad a ss bass. David Hull. You may have heard of this one band he plays in. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BeXXQjWN6jo David got his start here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1GBO0aSQ3_E
Just watched Steve Vai's acceptance speech at NAMM for the Les Paul award, he had a lot of funny great things to say and it is special to hear how he still speaks in awe of his time with Frank and what an inspiration he was to him. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=pIo2daS5bCE#!
