This is me with my buddy Jonathan Haft who suffered a traumatic brain injury when we were on vacation together in Mexico in Novemeber -- in this picture (taken by Pope Jim) we are waiting on line to see DZPZ in LA with George Duke on FZ's 70th birthday -- I flew out to LA from NYC for 24 hours just to catch this concert and Jonathan (who saw many FZ concerts with me in theewarly 70's) was excited to see Dweezil in LA in 2010.

I am in LA visiting my dear friend Jonathan Haft - 7 weeks ago we were together in Mexico when he was involved in terrible bicycle accident and suffered a traumatic brain injury. He is under the best of care here at UCLA and his spouse, Judy, is a saint. We all pray for Jonathan to have a complete recovery- it will be a long and diffucult road ahead, but he is surrounded by love and prayers. Since there are many new members to DZW since last year, and I believe this to be one of my "classic" posts, I will replay it here for your edification and entertainment. So today is the first day of Hanukah (or Chanukah -- doesn't make a difference because it is a Hebrew word and either spelling is an approximation of the pronuciation called transliteration). While many people will be celebrating various holidays in the coming days (Kwanzaa, Solstice, Christmas, New Year's, Sylvester{ I'll describe this in 10 days}) - Hanukah is the most in keeping with FZ's world view.
