Dweezil

Hello Friends,

I had a great day with my daughters today so I felt like sharing.

It was over  90 degrees outside today. After swimming for several hours at auntie Moonie's house, I took my daughters back to our new house for a little creative play time. Zola found a piece of wood that she thought looked a butterfly so I asked her if she would like to paint it. She excitedly said, "Yes, I would like to paint it pink."

Fortunately I had the right combination of colors available to allow her to dial in the exact shade of pink she wanted. Ceylon is always interested in yellow. I'll try her out on the Yellow Shark soon...

Whilst Zola was in the process of painting her butterfly, her little sister Ceylon started getting her hands involved in the painting process. Quite literally.

Shortly thereafter the body art campaign commenced. Both of them adopted the concept and squealed with delight as they were able to paint each other any color they wanted.

They looked like an explosion of fruit loops after about 3 seconds. My challenge became, how do I get them back in the house without touching anything on the way in? I had only one choice... carry them together straight to the tub.

I succeeded. The arrogant muggy aroma of the afternoon heat was replaced by a more playful and peaceful balneal fragrance. Once in the tub, they loved watching all of the colors blend as they rinsed off and swirled down the drain all the way to China. This will be a nice memory for a long time to come.

Click... Snapshot for the mind. Something I can take with me anywhere.

I knew there was a reason I was drawn to look at your past blogs..WOW.. This is my absolute most favorite thing to have read on this entire website, I must say.. it is so nice to hear, with such love in your words, what kind of adventure and experience you let your daughters have.. This is really inspriring for me, so thank you for sharing this, even though it was about 8 months ago... I suppose I should get back to writing my lesson plan, teaching how to make moccasins tomorrow morning, that should be fun.. but not as fun as free form painting :)

Say, wasn't that 'Chunga's Whiskers' I heard on a Volkswagon ad last night?  Sweet!  Little kids and some Dora the Explorer going on... sounded nice - fit well!  Yep - you look good in that Dad thing - daughters rock!  I just spent some time with my younger -31 yrs now - in Brooklyn - she is still a goofy little kid!  Yay!  Happy Days, Dweezil!

Aaah the memories that brings,...I remember scramblin the kids right to the tub and avoiding a mess. Never happened...
