Dweezil

Hey Everyone,

I'm short on time but I wanted to let you know that we are starting rehearsals soon and have a hefty list of new stuff we're trying to tackle. Many fan favorites and some fairly obscure stuff too. I'm excited about the list. It spans at least 3 decades...

We also have a new addition to the band. A new keyboardist who also plays a little violin and has nice vocal range. He's only 23 and has never been on the road before... Dah-Duh- Duhnn...We're making him watch 200 Motels and Baby Snakes on a loop.

What's his name? Wouldn't you like to know. In due time my friends. I will make a special announcement about him very soon!

I've also enlisted the help of one of my long time guitar playing/engineer type friends to help me get through some of my backed up workload on mixes for the DVD.

His name is Craig Parker Adams. I really appreciate him stepping up to help me. I've been swamped with divorce proceedings and it has been quite miserable. With his help I will be able to breathe again.

Also worth mentioning, my guitar pedal manufacturing friend Ken from Freekish Blues has graciously offered a to pay a portion of one lucky Dweezilla attendee's school fees. A scholarship if you will.

We are discussing how to implement this and award it. More details on that soon.

Thanks, Ken!

Thanks, everyone.

I know this thing has been a thorn in everyone's side, but I hopped on Nugs.net and it appears that Zappa plays zappa is no longer present.  I am curious where the downloads are in process.   Having gone through difficult personal times myself I certainly do empathise and understand how paralysing these kinds of troubles can be.  Dweezel, if you ever do want to bounce some ideas off of a person that has went through the same sort of thing, I am a great listener. I really do like listening to your great band's music as well and would love to pop the cork off of the audio muscle memory champagne bottle in wait of the show that I attended in Portland when it is ready.   I do look forward to it .

In the evolution of DZPZ 4 to 7 shows per touring year is something I am very fortunate to do. Road EnthuZiast 80s Zappa Style for me at best allowed me to see 13 FZ shows in a given touring year but that is by no means feasible for me anymore.

What I find in what has become yearly pilgrimages so enjoyable is just how deep DZPZ are digging into FZs Canon. Early on I realized the scope focus of a wide diversity of arrangements of a composers work. It has always been far beyond in-the-ballpark performances with Jam Band Ejectamenta. I always said to myself to imagine and keep cool and collected regarding what the ground covered may be like in 10 DZPZ touring years. The Musicians and dedication are allowing each and every night out on the road an opportunity for FZs music to speak in a way none of us ever quite imagined would ever happen again in late 1993. Then on top of that so much of FZs music that never had excellent recording and performance technology behind it. You listen to some of the old live shows and while they are each remarkable in their own merit they lack the dynamics and clarity of 2000 live performance and reRead more

"New Stuff"
-Being the operative keyword phrase.

With three shows booked on my attendance schedule I know I will be filled with a quotient of diversity that will make one of NY Finest Crazy Type Persons very happy. One never expects the same arrangement of the same 20 songs tour after tour with DZPZ.

This project is evolving of the highest magnitude where Dweezil and the Band metaphorically are a grouping of Shaolin.
They see and hear all following a code that enables them to perform the music on a level that is of the highest regards to the composers map while at the same time leaving room for exploration of higher ambient domains.

So doing a Miss Marple I've figured the keyboardist is of diminutive proportions, as he only plays a small violin?
Tell the presumably full sized bloke helping out with the DVD to indulge himself with bold use of the surround sound stuff, such that when the usual cloth eared people who STILL ask "So what's this surround sound stuff all about?" (Remember this is England where "stereo" is considered a recent cutting edge breakthrough)I can confidently say "THIS is what it's all about"
