ahhhh....the eventide H949. i loved mine. i only used it for that slightly detuned pitch shift setting, but that one sound was worth it!

I was amazed at the amount of tones coming out of this rig. I shouldn't be surprised, but the clarity and presence of your tone was amazing. I definitely enjoyed hearing all of the different tones that rig can give you, and I am sure we haven't heard all of tones yet!

Wow this a very nice rig, I agree with with your sonic ideas here. I am very much in favor of working out of the box ideas.

Totally agreed on that. I'm a big Holdsworth fan and he did the same thing with his old rigs using multiple delay units to get a multi-voice chorus, etc. His new rig should be pretty cool, still a work in progress currently.

The Eventides have their own sonic signature. Many of the sounds can be duplicated within the Fractal but some cannot. The Pitch Factor does a great job of recreating the 949 pitch modulation. The time factor has a few delay sounds that I really like and can't seem to duplicate. I look at the extra rack gear in the same way as I would mixing a record. If you track on a Neve and you have the option to mix on an SSL it would give you some different sonic character even in the same frequency ranges. You don't need to keep building up the exact same frequency ranges. The little gaps here or there add a richness and smoothness that isn't there otherwise. Overall there are more opportunities to achieve uniquely detailed results if you have access to multiple types of equipment.
