not great musicians?!! I beg to differ! But true that the connection you have with each other would give the music something special. I am always moved and my emotions are stirred when I listen to you guys. It must be a real buzz, singing such beautiful harmonies with people that you feels close with.
Sadly, I lost contact with Dorothy when I left the city. But in a way, she is, and always will be, with me. You are right in saying that it is great how we can inspire each other by sharing our passion. And yes, probably a big part of what makes us who we are, these kinda people. I can sincerely say that you, and Noodles too, have also been "these kinda people" for me here at Dweezil's world. And I am happy that I have met you both also.
It also reminds me of my conductor... he can also tell us 'that was bad, really bad bad bad!!' And WRONG!!! But when he puts it that way he is making a joke out of it... he has a great sense of humor...and always makes us laugh... although there is a hard core of truth in the joke, while we can sure mess up big time. We (the choir) in fact are horrible. While most are friends and also friends from the conductor, from way back... it can get too cosy and some can forget about him being the leader. At the same time the connection that we have is probably the main reason why we can give the music a special sound once in a while... not because we are such great musicians, hehe ;-)
Anyhow, do you still see Dorothy once in a while? Sounds like a fab lady!! It is great how some people can inspire others, by sharing there passion. So important in the proces of growing up too, these kinda people! Happy you met her!
So what about the developement at this point ;-p... will you be going to Dweezilla? Guess that would fit you?!
I'm an idiot. I totally forgot that I called you Dorothy here.
Dorothy was a music theory teacher I studied with for a while. A really lovely woman in her 60's. She was an awesome teacher. As soon as she met me, she offered to make me her last student of the day so she could give me an hour for the price of half an hour. Often, I would be there for hours and hours. She would often sing operetic lines around the house. As nice as she was, she certainly let me know if I did something wrong, writing in my book with big red letters, "WRONG. BAD". And would repeatedly say things like, "Oh yes, that's really bad. That's wrong, wrong, wrong". Even after we'd moved on further, she would go back and say, "Ooh, that one was bad".
I used to raid her collection of albums all the time, as I like to raid your musical interests (although it's been a while). This was when I fell in love with Beethoven and especially Bach and the Brandenburg concertos. We would watch videos of Beethoven's symphonies. The Brandenburg album had a portrait of Bach on the back. Dorothy would kiss it and hold it to her heart. Very cute.
