Poodle. In the second picture if you look closely, you can see quite a few people hiking the ridge up to the mountain ahead. We used artificial skins and releasable heels to "skin" uphill. At the top we remove the skins and lock the heel down for ski mode. It was about a 3 hour hike of about 3200 vertical feet from the town of Ophir and then down to Telluride. This is considered a classic ski around here. We opted for a less dramatic ski on this day for the sake of a group ski. Another 1/4 mile to the west if we went over the ridge it would have been a narrow chute of about a 40 degree pitch that would have slowed the group down.

How did you all get to the top of the hill?
Beautiful, but still glad I live in the sunshine state where I have never had to shovel my driveway.
