- Jamie Kime: Applied Theory for Everyone [in the Café] Topics in this class, while taught from a guitarist perspective, are not guitar-specific. Class will cover many basics of harmony and theory, as well as present approaches to how they relate to making music in a 'real world' environment, and strive to answer many of the age-old questions on the minds of every beginning improviser (i.e., "What scale do I use on this chord?" "Why is this called?", "How do I know what key I'm in?", etc.). Participation will be encouraged so bring your axe!
5:00-6:15pm:
- Pete Griffin: Dancing In Odd-Time [in the Performance Space]: Pete uses body mechanics when he plays, rather than bothering to count numbers in his head. He will show you how to incorporate stomping and clapping to simplify various odd-time signatures. Matt Picone is a Fractal Audio Axe-Fx product specialist who has worked closely with Dweezil on rig technology. The Axe-Fx is an all-in-one guitar tone and effects processor which accurately recreates the sound and feel of real tube amps, speaker cabs, and effects. At the heart of Dweezil's guitar rig is a pair of these cutting edge units which together helped replace his "twin towers" rig while preserving his signature sounds and broadening tonal horizons. In this short seminar, he will delve into the wide world of the Axe-Fx, looking at the individual amp, cab, and effect simulations, exploring how to connect them together into virtual rigs, how to automate and control real-time performances, and more.

Additionally, class will explore ways to use harmony as a springboard for melodic ideas, solos, and improvisation. Don't be afraid!
3:30-4:45pm:
- Jamie: Guitarmanship - Knowing What NOT To Play [in the Barn] with Pete and Joe. Bridging the gap between technique and musicality is the goal of this class, as well as helping students balance on the delicate line that separates the two. Class will help you to recognize your personal boundaries and not only play within them, but also push beyond with confidence. Presented in a positive, hands-on (and fun!) setting - with a 'live' rhythm section - students will have the opportunity to play and immediately apply some of the concepts presented.

He will give examples of different programs that can be used including Ableton Live, Pro Tools, Reason, as well as other virtual instruments.
