I have pondered that question a lot and after much deep thought I can confidently announce that I have absolutely no idea what it is that has always drawn my to FZ's music .... but I just love it .... it seems like it's written into my DNA that I should like it
I hate to admit it, but i never cared about the lyrics -- it was always Frank's music that moved me - the lyrics were just another instrumental line. I know the lyrics of many of Frank's songs because I have listened to them myriads of times, but that was never what attracted me to Frank's music. The complexity -- the rythmic complexity, the harmonic complexity, the counter-point and most of all the FUNK -- the eybrows -- the soul-patch of the music -- that is what will always drive me to lsiten to FZ's compositions. There was NO-ONE like him as a composer!
