I am not passing judgement on a non call or what the league immediately does in regards to the current trend of suspensions. The above blog takes a look and gives one man's opinion. Looking at the analysis of recent suspensions I can only wonder how a 6'1" 215 Lb NHL player skating full speed throwing his shoulder into a players head compares to an elbow to the head. The bottom line is both can cause extreme head trauma. If it is the direction of the NHL to remove head trauma from the game these hits which are as dangerous as any in the game should be under question. Passing along disciplinary action on this form of hit may not be the direction many fans want the NHL to move towards but clearly, in the case with possible head trauma, this hit is comparable to many if not any in the game. What I ask myself is the player in a more vulnerable position than a NFL quarterback.? The physical force using the shoulder, weight of the player, speed of the hit towards the head area. These hits…Read more

Poodle makes some noteworthy comments regarding the regular season but the regular season does decide the home ice advantage that he talks about. As far as too many teams making the playoffs. 50% of the teams make the playoffs but that does not mean the top point getting are getting in. Personally I would like to see a shift away from divisions getting back to Clarence Campbell & Prince Of Whales Conference recognition where only the top 8 point seeds get into the playoffs. A conference Banner is good enough to play for. Division Banners have become become a dime a dozen. If home ice is an advantage, my comments are obviously to make the advantage greater than a one game home ice advantage, 3Home,2Away,2Home makes the season so much more to play for such an advantage. Conference Seeds(1-4) Guaranteed 3 Home Games w./ Max 5, Conference Seeds(5-8)_ Guaranteed 1 w./Max2. Being that the playoffs brings lots of revenue for the league removing games removes revenue. Shifting the revenue and a more weighted advantage to teams that get more regular season points is what my thoughts are about. Such would make the regular season a more val…Read more

Such would make the regular season a more valuable commodity in both sportsmanship and revenues throughout the regular season and playoffs . Playoff viewership is up. Great news fro the NHL and fans of the game. These thoughts I bring to the table is to add an overall value to how the NHL game by game. I believe it can get a more definitive meaning to the 82 game schedule and playoffs back to the NHL.

I feel there are way to many teams in the playoffs anyway but let the puck drop and let the cream rise to the top..
Many teams that dominate early in the season fail near the end and it's all about timing from injuries and the such..
Playoff hockey is what it's all about anyway the regular season doesn't mean sh it!
I'm sure not one team enters the season thinking about winning the Presidents trophy...
It's all about playoffs and home Ice
It's one game at a time and my Hawks are in just that position..
Anything is possible!
GO HAWKS TONIGHT!
