Three generations of Carter Family. Three generations of Hank Williams. Three generations of Simmons in Wenatchee. Four generations in my family.

Then if you are an instrument player the instrument is a prolongation of the body and if you are a composer the music is a prolongation too.

Jonás García Rodríguez

What is the best is to live the music, I mean to introduce yourself in the music. In a word, when you are playing music, you have to be the music itself

Alberto Martinez

is better to memorize the music or is better to assimilate the music?

Alberto Martinez

The problem.

Western civilization worship technology and in music technique .It´s all about new gadgets the iphone , the tomato pc, the salad tv, the letuce music player, etc. but as Nadia Boulanger said to Leonard Berstein there is only one MUSIC and by that we mean that there is only one MUSIC that is MUSIC .
That does not mean that it have to be music in a romantic sense as self expression , it can be music as sound too .
So we go back to the theme of scales self gratification . There´s nothing wrong about playing scales up and down as long as it serves a musical purpose but if some people want to show how proficient they are in the instrument they can go to a stand in a music shop.

Alberto Martinez

Let´s do the scale demonstration piece for exams , like playing c dorian over C no matter what hahahahahaa

The blueballs theory , approved by the Commitee LOL

Chris Menta

in fact, I always go into too much details.. I'll put all this in a shaker, and will serve just one sentence..All I want to say is about that image :

Be one and "sexual" with your instrument, and find your own blue notes, instead of masturbating your guitar's neck in nonsense compulsions and have blue balls.

Let's create a new law : any guy caught playing with nonsense technic which doesn't serve any emotion and mood, will have a penalty, and will be obligated to hang this on his guitar for 6 months :

Haha :D

"Man, I think I will go for the Polka groove "

Haha, well, if all musicians were thinking that way, music productions wouldn't have any choice than accepting individuality. I vote that.

The thing with Zappa is that he respected the music , is no coincidence that he said"Music is the best " .He work hard at it.
Yes , but it´s not the faster than thou that makes music but imagination .The faster than thou and sing me pretty world is giving the wrong message .Man, I´m tired of listening the same motto "She have such a beautiful voice "LOL hahahahahaha
You know ,Robert Ashley (the avant garde composer ) in his lecture "The future of music" talks about Kleenex Works .People listen to the piece once and see you later alligator ...LOL
You know Richard Strauss watched Karajan directed one of his works , then Karajan asked his opinion and Richard Strauss answered "You have played the notes, now you must play what´s between the notes " .
Your plumber plays Malmsteen ? he must record a video and be on Youtube right now !!!! LOL
Well the music don´t age at all cause the music said something .I think the same of the Beatles , it´s not only the great promotion they wrote great music.Zappa is a classic .
Let´s see how many of the music of today will stand the test of time or will be forgotten.
