I wouldnt advise trying to read poodle play front to back, best to just pick a section at seemingly random. this is the best ive enjoyed it.

In  Richard Ochogrosso's  Zappa authorized  bio Frank  tells  him  that  he  finds it  difficult  to  sing  and  play  because  the  guitar  strap  and  weight  of  his  SG presses  down  on  his  diaphram.

Hi Rugby

Iv'e read Poodle Play

Its mostly complete nonsense,Watson is obvoiusly delighted with the contents of his bookshelf & then attempts to drag Zappa past them to no great effect....

He also has no real idea about MUSIC only lyrics & concepts...

Hi all

What is your conceptual continuity?

@rugby007 - I've not read the book myself but here are some links containing thoughts from some people that have read it.

The best FZ book is the real frank zappa book because he wrote that one.

Who has read The Negative Dialectics of Poodle Play by Ben Watson?  Any good?  Entertaining?  Enlightening?  Enjoyable to read?  Given my encouters with some of his other FZ writing, I'm inclined to stay away from it. Thoughts?

Here's one for the true Zappa obsessives:

In the Baby Snakes DVD, on Punky's Whips, about 2 minutes or so into the song, just after TB says "Oh Punky, isn't it romantic", the footage shows FZ and POH playing the the next theme while standing together. Someone (not shown) is also whistling this theme - does anyone know who was doing the whistling?

I love to hear FZ talk...I like to read his book and I can hear him saying it...I really like and admire his view on things....The man is great in sooooo many ways...

Frank Zappa Forever!!!!

Quick note.  After reading Barry Miles' biography, many of my misconceptions were cleared up, including FZ's views on doo-wop which of course he was rather fond of, contrary to my prior speculation.

Hi - if any guitarists want to join me  and a couple of others in learning to play "The Black Page", there's a discussion going on in the main forum:

@Graham, thanks for the info! I'd been trying to look it up but all I got were message boards and none of them seemed to actually have details, just users whining that they want to hear it.
