Hello Everyone 12 -20- 09
Hello Everyone,
I thought it would be a good idea to collect site feedback all in one place. I would love to hear from all of you about current site features you like/dislike.
More importantly this should serve as a place to express your ideas about new features you'd like to see on the site. I will check in here from time to time to see what's going on. This will help with overall maintenance as well as focusing our creative endeavors.
Regards, DZ
I think we need a place just for FZ.
Also how about a shoutbox where we can talk live ?
Just an Idea. No biggie.
Or a feature that you can press and it shows 'new posts'...on the forums, that could exist and I just haven't found it yet, in which case ignore me!
A chat room.. Would be cool for us frequent fliers and you could get on and join us from time to time. Posting photo's in the Forum would also be cool.
something other than a black background! it hurts my eyes to see in negative.
Ok... a chat feature as long as you guys don't make fun of me.
What would be really cool is a way for people to add/exchange mp3 or midi files to add together to create some music in xenochrony??!?!
I have created a few things musically via email with people. send files back and forth until you have a few tracks overdubbed. it's fun!
I have a friend who lives in Brooklyn and I live near SF and we write music together but have not seen each other since 1978. (he used to be my drum instructor)
Seeing that you have passed commentary on Bootlegging whereby if a fan so feels the need to record/video a DZPZ performance that they share it here at DZW instead of Youtube a NOVELty idea crossed my mind that has conceptual links to those segmented portions of shows where professional photographers are allowed to snap away....So a segment of a show, possibly after an extended opening sequence(s) an announcement is made that the following song,(first minute) is where fans with FLIP vidcams are allowed to record this one song(or first minute) where they can share it to the Video Area of DZW. Connecting a collaborative effort with a official 1 minute FOH MIX of this song can be uploaded by the DZW team where fans with some editing abilities can download and sync the 1 minute of quality FOH MIX with their video taken from their seat. As set lists change on a nightly basis the song that is chosen can change so by the end of a tour we can have several 1 minute VIDS with FOH audio for all to enjoy. While surely Glynn is getting FOH and VID the 1 minute token of extremities can be a shared effort between official Audio and fan video where …Read more
hmmmmm interesting idea. That would be cool so that people can say "hey this is where I saw the show" and to give up the video to the performer but still give the people the chance to show off their great seats.
I think DZ knows that people have the nature to want to capture a little piece of history and for him to allow it to be shown on his own site is very noble!
It's a win win for everyone. maybe even a contest for the best sync job? I think that could go a long way in fan appreciation.
I myself hate to do recordings as it detracts from me enjoying the show at the time I am there.
It may just be my 50 year old eyes, but I struggle to read the pink/purple font against the grey background. I know we can highlight them but it's my opinion a lighter colour would be better.
This may be one for your web designer. One nice feature on another site that I frequent, is the option to either preview your post, or submit it. Having the option to preview it as it will appear, once submitted, gives you an opportunity to do a little proofing before the submit with no return. It's easier to see and catch mistakes as it will appear in it's posted form, as opposed to have to scroll through the 3 lines you see in the typing box. Sometimes I catch and repair things after several previews before I hit the final submit. Just a thought.
I can't possibly leave on a negative note. I really like the overall feel of the site, and I think Dweezil has cleverly tapped into the strong community spirit that exists in us Zappa fans.
It has a very organic feel to it, and I can see it continuing to grow exponentially. This is great for us oldies, but more importantly it will be ready and waiting for the next generation of fans, eager to explore the music of Dweezil and Frank.
Maybe those younger fans will even allow some of us to shuffle onto the side of the stage and tell tall stories about all things Zappa in 'The Good Old Days'
Now, what was it I was saying...oh well
I own five dogs so...I just thought it was the dog dew snow cones that got stuffed in my eyes..All kidding aside..I too have trouble with the Red on Gray..I put on my cheaters and I can see..Maybe Dweezil will give us ol'timers a break and adjust it a little..Just a little feedback never hurts.
a webcam of your refrigerator would be cool so we could watch that hunk of Cheddar turn to mold. I kid I kid.. :D
Just keep up the sight is all I ask. It has been great to have some DWEEZIL stuff and not just Frank for us who are DZ fans. Oh and more DZ music as I always bug you about. I can never get enough of that.
The new posts idea is a good one though so we wouldn't have to sort through everything daily.
If it hasn't been suggested yet, I would like to receive notification when I have been replied to in the Forum and Group sections.
How about a better way to sort through and search for members? So far you can only go through a seemingly random list: no alphetization, no order by date aded, etc. As many ways to search as possible would be preferrable.
Thanks for soliciting and reading our responses.
Hey Everyone,
Thanks so much for your input. You have brought up so many good ideas. I will try to implement as much as possible. I'll give you an update soon on what changes you can all expect. HAPPY NEW YEAR!
* Id find it interesting to know which of Frank's pieces you are working on,
*maybe see how you approach this, how you decide,
* maybe this could lead to suggestions of what folks would like to see you tackle,
*plus a list of the repetoire you have worked up.
*have you started out on any tunes and found them to be maybe' not to difficult but elusive to nail.
*also whats the band listening too at the mo' what gets played on the tour bus ?..
am i becoming an anorak..?

I love the site, a great place to gather with my kind of peeps!
I am not a total points whore, but I would like to remain near the top, just for grins.
I don't want to just keep posting random BS to gain points, so I was thinking maybe more FZ, DZ, and ZPZ trivia (similar to the question you posted about Manx needs Women) would be a good way for the site to dole out points.
Just a thought.
Have a great day/week/month/year/life!
Scott
