YCFOSA MP3 download status

can we get a ballpark idea of when the downloads will be available to those who attended the 'you cant fit on stage anymore' concerts...

thanks for your time!

The Factor

Yes, I would like to know something further as well. I noticed in the audio section you offer a download of some of the Morse shows, New York and England. I hope the plan is not to offer this in place of the MUCH delayed downloads we are all eagerly awaiting. I paid extra for this show, because of the guitar giveaway and download.... I flew to LA to see the show and have been patiently waiting for my download, now over 1 year over due. I continue to support ZPZ/DZPZ and the ZFT, how about supporting us. I know you have a family and family is important, but instead of putting The Roxy show and Son of the Roxy on the front burner, move them to the back burner and work on our downloads. I want to see/hear those shows too, but our downloads should be a priority over those. They were promised and have been repeatedly put on hold and moved aside in place of other projects. I don't want to come off dissatisfied with the offerings you have made, but a promise is a promise and my money has already been paid, now I would appreciate my product. I don't think that is an unreasonable request.

personally, i think that whatever other projects that DZ has going on is probably more important than mastering all of those concerts...

i imagine that Dweezil is probably having to juggle his projects and manage his time very wisely... so i'm not so hard pressed to get these downloads right away... i'm sure that he's got alot of things to do every day, and that there is work being done on this...

i was just looking for a general estimate...

...but by all means, for the sake of audio quality... take your time.

I have made it clear in other posts about this topic that the downloads are being worked on.

There have been many delays for various reasons that are not necessary to get into.

I'm not happy about the delays and I have apologized profusely as well as offered an extra added bonus in the form of an extra download. I have been doing my very best to get through the mountain of work. I'm sorry if some folks are feeling frustrated by this but I can only do so much as one person. The other folks that were meant to be helping me did not hold up their end of the bargain.

Fans who are discussing things like boycotts are entitled to their opinion and choose to do what ever they like. That group is certainly in the minority.

I will move forward on projects that present the best opportunities to expose the band and the music to a wider audience. That is the main objective of all of this, it is also what keeps the lights on in the studio so without those kinds of projects appearing first you most likely would experience even greater delays on your downloads.

I'm sure there will still be some folks out there who will continue to be frustratRead more

I agree with general sentiments expressed here about the downloads.  My show will be two years ago in a month and it is frustrating to wait and wait.  Having said that, I sympathize with DZ and he has explained in the past what a painstaking process is involved.  He says the downloads are being worked on and I trust him on that.  I just don't want them to be forgotten...I know that we fans haven't forgotten about them.  I think the only thing to do is continue to be patient and support DZ as he continues to share with the world the genius that is the music of Frank Zappa.

Hey Dweezil!!!  I would like to offer a suggestion about what to give the code holders for the Chicago#1 show.  Since they were at the first YCFOSA show, why not give them a download of the last YCFOSA show in Vancouver? The sound was awesome and the set list was to die for!!!  Just a thought.  Cheers.

I've given up on the downloads. It's been well over 2 years, for me. That's long enough to get them finished if they are a priority. I think it would be more up front for Dweezil to simply state that the project ended up being unexpectedly more involved than he could handle in the grand scheme of things, and sorry, but no downloads are coming. Frown

Hey, maybe to offer something to the fans in the Northwest who are being skipped in the Apostrophe tour he can give the Portland, Seattle and Vancouver concerts a priority and release those sooner.

Dweezil my man - you made a promise to you (and your father's) devoted fans to provide a copy of the YCFTOS shows to the people who PAID for the show AND a download of the show.  It's been over two years now and the excuses just don't cut it anymore.  I've met you and Ahmet and Gail and Moon and your dad even had the class and kindness to call me in response to a letter I wrote him and I know you guys are normally a pretty classy bunch but Frank would NOT have been cool with this kind of BS and you know it.  Deliver what you promised or provide a refund to the people who paid good (VERY GOOD) money for something they did not get.  Man up already and get the job done before you move on to any more projects. You are damaging not only your reputation but the memory of your father by failing to deliver on your promise. We paid in good faith now it's your turn to deliver in good faith.  If you can't manage to get the sound quality you want then hire someone who CAN!

In other words - who you jivin with that cosmik debris?  GET IT DONE!  There's absolutely no reasonable excuse not to other than a decided disrespect for your andRead more

Two and a half years now, in which time there have been multiple ZPZ shows in my area that I have chosen not to attend, due entirely to this fiasco.  We all paid a lot of money to see these shows, and to get the expressly promised recordings of them.

It is not true to say that "All I can do is apologize for the delays yet again...that's all I can do."  There is in fact something else you can do:  Release the tapes that you have.  Pretty simple, really.  I know your perfectionist little eardrums aren't 100% satisfied with how they sound, but that does not relieve you of your obligation, created by your promise, to provide an opportunity to "download the show in it's [sic] entirety."   [That part was bolded in the original marketing materials advertising these shows.] If it weren't for that extra incentive, I would never have paid $125(!!!), which is several times more than what I'm usually willing to pay to see a rock concert.

Plus, haven't you heard of crowdsourcing?  Surely if you release the master tapes and they really do need work, some dedicated member of the community will take up the project, and get the quality up toRead more

I have to say... i totally support the zappa family in everything they do, but this has gotten a bit ridiculous. I am very dissapointed that the audio from these shows haven't been made available for the people who attended, as it was explicitly stated that they would be available within a few weeks of the show.

just release the raw audio... simple as that. we would all be content with that, and it would bring finality to this whole mess.

i remember i said something like, 'take your time, for the sake of the music' but at this point... just give it to us. however it is. its been almost three years.

i know your the son of frank zappa and everything... and you have the utmost respect from me for continuing your fathers legacy... but come on... this is a huge let down, and it is a shame to tarnish the great things you have done by letting this situation just drag on...

DELEGATE!!! you don't have to do this whole thing alone.

i believe in you, and i have faith that you will set this whole situation right, and soon.

Give it up guys. Dweezil has clearly moved on.

I wonder if he's playing Flakes on the upcoming tour.

In case Dweezil is reading this:

I was at one of the Roxy YCFOSA shows.  I went partly because of the offer to get the download.  There were parts of your solo on Inca Roads that I liked quiite a bit and was looking forward to reviewing.

I've seen ZPZ at least once a year since you first started, but I won't be seeing you this year.  I hope you have a sense of honor about this and see that it's not about how many or how few fans are upset enough to stop attending but rather about keeping your word.  Not only were the shows promoted as including downloads but you have since repeatedly said that the downloads were coming.  I gave you the benefit of the doubt for a while but after several years, I have to say you have let us down.  Some people who've seen those shows will have moved, changed email addresses, or whatever and will never receive downloads even if you do finsh them now.

A number of musicians who worked with your father spoke of how straightforward and honest he was in his dealings with people.  I encourage you to show the same kind of integrity.

In a different post it was stated "I have made sure sure that all code holders have a complete Chicago download to listen to while they wait for their own show to be released" -

I attended another show on that tour how can I at least get the Chicago show?

If anyone could let me know I'd appreciate it!

Thank you-
