how can i get started as a musician?
I have a huge passion for music and think i have what takes to be a musician. Its just so hard to get started. Their is so much time and money put into this that i dont really have? Any ideas?
Find a good teacher. By that I don't mean just a flashy player, but someone who can really explain things well, motivate you, adapt lesson material to suit your own needs and goals. If you show up for a lesson and he says "so, what would you like to do this week?" He's probably the wrong teacher. Similarly, if his idea of great is a Green Day tune. Sorry, I teach a little and Green Day are a sore spot. *LOL* Besides a great teacher and of course practicing regularly, don't get obsessed with gear. Yes having a sound that inspires you is important, but the great players you admire all started out on not-so-hot equipment too. Just make sure it's playable and in good working order. Once you've been at it for awhile, find other people to jam or play with. It's so much more rewarding than all the lonely practicing. Not to mention, it's a constant challenge if you can find people to play with who are better than you currently. Hope that helps some.

No it's quite ok, its actually nice to get some ideas from all around so thank you. I have been at it for a while and I think im pretty d**n good. I am also trying to get a band started with a couple of my friends. So far it's me on guitar, a friend on drums, and afriend on bass but they arent very good? They dont have the passion and motive like I do and it buggs me cause i play almost everyday. I just hope things start to turn around.
