FZ Statue in Baltimore
FZ Statue in Baltimore
I have just received this note from a friend in Vilnius. He was one of the masterminds behind the FZ statue in Lithunia. It speaks of what's new in Baltimore...

Hi, at last perfect news from Baltimore -
------------------
Baltimore public arts officials have finally decided on where to place a statue of the late Baltimore-born rock musician, Frank Zappa. The site chosen is in front of the Southeast Anchor library in Highlandtown, according to Roswell Encina, Director of Communications for the Enoch Pratt Free Library. “One of our hurdles is to try to get new people to come into the Pratt library and we’re hoping with the Frank Zappa statue, we’ll attract Frank Zappa fans and people who normally wouldn’t go to the library,” said Encina.
The statue of Zappa was donated over a year ago by a Lithuanian Zappa fan club. Since that time, city officials have looked at various places to put the 15-foot piece of art, including Fells Point and Patterson Park.
Encina said the bust will be placed right in front of the library at Eastern and Conkling.
Now we know where, we just don't know when... DZ
So then lemme get this straight.. Frank Zappa fans wouldn't "normally" go to the library? :) LOL! This is great, any time a statue of Frank is erected that's a good thing. No matter when or where. Kudos to the pratt-free library for living up to it's name? (again, I kid).
Better than nothing or Beatles statues!!
Well, well, well...having googled Enoch Pratt ( why can't I just read something without investigating).....I can assure you he was an all round good guy, one of life's givers and a matey of Andrew Carnegie....which in the UK is synonomous with those olde worlde round roofed libraries....a friendship cemented on a love of giving books....papery but true.
mehhh I don't know...now if they were to have a starbucks there I might go.
LMAO! yea I'd like to go see it as my Mother was also born there. I miss my Maww.
Happy BD to FZ.
Here's some back-story I read on the original statue in Lithuania.

At least some of the decision is made, maybe only another year or so to find out the when.
frank was so under rated period. my soon to be wife never heard the music until she meet me. to many of my friends know very little about frank and his music. i tell anyone and everyone about the music. i will make the trip one day to get a picture with him, the band need's to play there soon, i'll show up. john
"Frank Zappa fans and people who normally wouldn't go to the library" indeed! I am offended. Like Frank, I got more education in libraries than I ever did in public schools.
