Jeesus, Gary. Do you expect Flo and Eddie to spend several weeks in order to rehearse 8 songs for a one-time show with the ZPZ? Hey, they used to play with Frank! This must have been nothing but a fun nostalgia thing to do. They probably have lives that they cannot trade for achieving Godlike perfection for the sake of the Son of Frank and you. Get real.

One of the best ZPZ shows I have seen, and Ive seen quite a few....the Flo & Eddie section was off the hook! I didnt care that they had to read the lyrics....it was great to see them again. It was a little too hot inside, and the standing room kinda sucked, but the music was outstanding!!
The next night was equally as good, but a shade below due to no Flo & Eddie...
Nice auditorium, however in a not so great part of town...
I drove five hours to get to the show and we played five FZ albums in the car. You played a song off each album in the show! It was great.
Thanks for keeping this great music alive. I brought my daughter to share the experience with her and Dweezil posed for a picture with her. Thank you for that too!
I listened to Just Another Band From LA and the Live at the Fillmore album through college in the late '70's. Seeing Dweezil with Flo and Eddie was a huge treat. There's no way I could have missed it.
Thank you Dweezil for a really great time.
you'll need to ball-up several socks.
Right on, Poodle!
This was a pleasure to experience...
My first Zappa album was the" White Album"
Seeing Flo and Eddie was a blast from the past...
Glad you let them perform with the band and I just listened to your audio clip from "Road Ladies"...Fricken great!
@ Gary...Stick a sock in it!
G R E A T ! ! ! ! The whole experience ............................

Gary T is right... a lifetime experience. Unforgettable.
Firstly this is not a critical review. I could do that but I do not want to. It is more-so just a generality of a difference between the standards achieved of the core group and what happens in some of these special guest scenarios.
I would expect any special guest may or may not have a large amount of time to invest in rehearsing. If one is a special guest I would hope they spend alot of time in solo rehearsals with tapes of the arrangements, over and over until they had it 100% down. This is necessary because only so much time is available to rehearse with the core band. Let me put it this way if I was going to sing with ZPZ as a guest I would spend hundreds of hours on my own free time. I did sing the German verse of Stick It Out on MTV in 1981, MTV used it as a promo for the show but I woudl nto be able to walk on stage and just sing that with ZPZ and deliver the standards. That is just me. No matter how many times I sung it, in the here and now I would have to make sure I could perform it as best as possible.
I want to make it…Read more

I want to make it clear that I am very happy to have seen this show. Many of us have waited a very long time for this possibility. So for many Zappa fans having the so called lifetime experience, I am very happy for them and their perceptions. I don't want to take anything away from anyone who had a lifetime experience but clearly ZPZ as a core unit sets the bar very high. What ZPZ do on their own, for my eyes and ears is far superior to that special guest scenario that took place for 8 songs at the Bearsville show or many of the special guest scenarios since the project began.
Speaking of vocals, the Doo-Wop vocals in the FZ:OZ arrangement of What's The Ugliest Part Of Your Body that ZPZ is performing is a testament to their Unexpected Perfection. They do that so much better than heard on the FZ:OZ record or any set of collective Doo-Wop vocals on any given Zappa album.
It's not my job to criticize Flo & Eddie or any given Special Guests. As I stated, this is not a detailed critical analysis of the show. Pointedly I have a given level of Unexpected Perfection at ZPZ concerts. This just has not been happening in many of the Special Guest Scenarios. It may take a professional musician with the best of skills to spend hundreds of hours to get 8 songs perfect be it rehearse in a band or by themselves with tapes. It just seems logical that it should be a combination of both for these special guest with a heavy weight factor on coming into the situation prepared as best as possible. For many musicians you can not just turn Unexpected Perfection on like a light switch.
For all the fans that were overjoyed to see the special guest scenario I don't want to take anything away from what they enjoyed. Yes I am repeating myself but it is my opinion that ZPZ have set the bar very high on performance standards of Frank's music. Everything about what ZPZ brings in a core performance is at a much higher level than what happens in many of these guest scenarios. I don't know how much time the special guests spent learning all their parts. I don't want to pass any criticism on what they did or did not due but it was pretty clear they did not perform up to the standards of what ZPZ puts on the live stage every night.
For my eyes and ears the core performances on this night and what took place at Bridgeport were of the level that I expect at a DZPZ show or anyone performing FZs music.
Amazing set list! Can't wait to hear Son of Mr Green Genes x
Great show! as usual
Gary T is right... a lifetime experience. Unforgettable.
Great show! Flo and Eddie still got it, big time! Band was really tight although not as many solos as I saw last year in Bearsville perhaps due of the addition of the Flo and Eddie material. It was sweltering hot and they were tight! Ben Thomas was amazing with his power-packed vocals and dynamic playing skills. Everyone was great and Dweezil nailed Son of Mr Green Genes for the finale. I do prefer the reserved seating arrangement at Bearsville better than the standing room general admission. But either way I can't wait for them to come back to Woodstock next year.
To: Gary Titone..........Share the videos!!!
SICK CONCERT!
While I have a somewhat detailed review for this specific show I am keeping the detailed review and videos to myself. I just do not see why at this time I should get into the Mystery Burger of it all.
I did have a chance to talk about the show to DZ and I am not at all surprised we are on the same page. When I have a little time, if permission is granted, maybe I'll consider putting up a brief section of a DZ solo.
In closing I am very happy for the fans that had a lifetime experience.
Great setlist. An indication of what to expect later this year/next year in Europe - or are there 24 more songs tied down ready to pounce? Looks great anyway. Just wish I could get to more shows, both this and the other side of The Pond.
GREAT show, Flo and Eddie were on top of it... this makes my second time to see them, first time only 40 yrs ago, so a magical moment. To say the least. On a magical day, which started with revisiting Woodstock (festival) site, 42 yrs later, very emotional, then off to Big Pink (pinch yourself!), ending with a HOT night in Bearsville. Can't wait to see the DVD! What a great day!
Glad to see everyone show up in my hometown for what has now become the 2nd year ZPZ has appeared within the magical Woodstock town limits.... hopefully this will continue with Dweezilla for years to come... I want to thank the band for their professionalism and stamina dealing with the heat.. you could see them struggle at times to keep it together, but the music carried them far! Love to Dweezil / ZPZ / Flo & Eddie and the crew that made it happen. Love and support to you... peace.
@strayblues - tattoo on neck...yep, that's me. Seeya in Bridgeport!
Absolutely fantastic! Do You Like My New Car was hilarious. Flo & Eddie added another dimension to the band, and ZPZ had that great '70's MOI sound. Everybody nailed it. It was 100 degrees above zer-o, and my mamma cried.
Thanks to all..........
Just AMAZING Show and Amazing Experience~!
Dweezilla 2011 ROCKED~!
This was one of my best Zappa experiences ever! The Flo and Eddie set was ridiculous. Something I never ever thought I would get to experience. Mark and Howard were very generous with their time afterwards as well so I got to be the fanboy and get autographs and pictures. I am on a cloud today basking in glow from a longtime dream being realized. Thanks to Dweezil, Mark, Howard for making this happen!!
wow. the secret song IS son of mr. green genes. hot d**n! er....hot rats! i sure hope we get that in detroit!!
sounds like a great show !
