Just back from the UK, and my first Euro Zappa show since I saw Frank in Mannheim, Germany in 1988, the Best Band You Never Heard in Your Life tour. Great Coventry show, DZ and ZPZ, another night of the best music there is--thank you! Looking for you in the DC area in 2012--I'll be there.
What a guy. What a band. What a night.
See you next time round.
Good info Richard.
Glad everyone had such a good time.
What a band!!
I was at the show with my son and his girlfriend, what a fantastic job DZ and the band are doing.Great show!!! Can't wait to see DZ on stage again.
Another fantastic show! Great performances and some really inspired playing. Too many highlights to mention here, but a great solo in Inca Roads from Chris. Billy and Jamie both ripped it in Chunga's Revenge, somehow managing to follow Ben's brilliant vocal improvisation that set the crowd alight.
DZ and Scheila excelled as ever, Pete's solo in Apostrophe still sends tingles down my spine every time I hear it, and the sick Joe Travers played his socks off.
The superhuman vocals of Pete Jones on 50:50 led us into the magnificent Rollo. All this and Frank on video too. Too much!
Hope you all have a great time and a safe journey.
Guomundur and Thierry, hope to meet up with you both at the show. Anyone booked in for the pre show VIP package?
Hoping to hear Black Napkins, Echidna's Arf, Carolina, Don't you Ever Wash That Thing (for Poodle)
Aaaahhh I just cant wait to be in the UK, I'll be on the ferry in just a little more than 24 hours ;-)
I'd just LOVE to hear Black Napkins again....
And also In France (I know it has not been rehearsed yet, maybe for next tour ?!)
And anything from Hot Rats too....
I have to go to London (from Iceland) for meetings on Thursday and Friday. When I found out about the possibility to see ZPZ (for the fifth time), I added the weekend to my trip, bought a ticked and booked a hotel in Coventry.
Can't wait.
Please please please can you play village of the sun for my wife Tracey who is a new fan to the joys of Franks music and is pregnant but don't let that sway you...... much. Can't wait for the Coventry gig next Saturday.
Please please play BLESSED RELIEF.
can't wait for your show, keep up the great work, it's fantastic.
saw FZ in 1988 at Birmingham NEC blew us away, Music IS The Best & Zappa is Music, FZ or DZ
Actually, what I'd really like to hear is "Any Kind of Pain," with a long solo a la the 1988 tour. Simple, right?
I bought my tickets for this show yesterday. It'll be the first trip to the UK for my wife and kids, and since the town of Rugby--and Rugby School--is right down the road from Coventry, I'll be able to make the pilgrimmage required of all rugby players at least once in our lifetime.
I figure this show will be the same as the Philly show I saw in Dec, and that's just super-peachy with me. As for requests: Black Napkins; Blessed Relief; Peaches (in that order).
Really looking forward to it.
