salut dweezel, gig n° 9,came from france, what a pleasure hearing frank's music with your fantastic band:every tour i book 2 dates and at manchester i was here for the sound check;a good idea but too short....

thank you, maybe next year everywhere in europe  à bientot philippe

John(Lizweedus)

Roll on next year.

Dave

so my 5 concert with ZpZ (1 time more then i seen frank).

first concert not in switzerland (i missed the tour last year, always hoped that ZpZ will come to centraleurope, but now way, so i decided to come this year to manchester to see the boys and also my wife on the christmas market on albert square Smile.)

it was great, as always. had seats in the back, second last row and there the sound was okay for me AND i could stand for the whole concert (i can not sit on a rockconcert even with my 51 years)

ben thomas had made big progress in his stageappearance since i see him first time 2 years ago. sometimes he reminds me to the great napolen with his voice an "dancing" on the stage, he is the perfect singer for this band.

sadley sheila had not so much work like on tour 2 years ago, but still fantastic on the sax und co.

very nice was the signing session after the show, i also managed to get a autogramm from the one and only vaultmaster, joe travers, sad i did not catch my beloved saxplayer scheila.

Dzstr

thanks a lot to DZ and the whole band , i will see you sure next year

Tommy Quirk

Outstanding set list !!  Can't wait until DZPZ play stateside again.

Luke Doherty

Best concert ever!  First Time seeing Dweezil, certainly won't be the last! Met him afterwards aswell!Laughing

Thanks DZ for your considered response. I accept that these matters are in the promotor's hands to a large extent. Friend saw Crosby Nash there and had no problems. As you say, not a venue best suited to more electric acts. Anyway, nice to see a performer who cares about the audience!

boltonboy

You know I loved the gig, this isn't a criticism of the music or the performance, Frank in my opinion is the greatest musician that ever lived.

David -Just another noodler.......

Guthrie Govan - 'Special Guest' appearance

Watch particularly from around 6.30 onwards where DZ and Guthrie duet.

Quadnuts

I had a blast. Sound was bass light for my ears (but then again I'm a bass entusiast) but overall I thought the sound was pretty darn good. At the end of the day we saw a great band playing great music and I met some great people. Result!!!

John(Lizweedus)

I loved it. It wasn't the best sounding place, the sound bounced a little over on the left side near the stage. Other than that it was the best (early) birthday present I have ever had. So to my Debz and to the band and especially to Dweezil and to all those Zappa freaks (yes that's right you) I met that night...A HUGE THANK YOU.

Hope to see you all again very soon.

Sounded great to me too, especially considering the hall was reverb-city...the only thing i lost track of was the climax of the DZ/Guthrie duet...but i have to admit, i was watching JT anyway

purpleguitar

I found the sound pretty good from where i was sat you could tell there we'e a few adjustments made during the first couple of songs, and it was fine from then onwards  it seemed a bit odd in 2009 in the same venue as i was sat further back but i wouldn't say the sound was bad it was just different and maybe slighty quieter than you could have itin somewhere like the apollo but you could still pick out each instrument. it was a fantastic gig.

David -Just another noodler.......

sounded great to me !

Dweezil

Sorry if you did not enjoy the sound. I know our FOH engineer is quite skilled but even the best engineer cannot overcome a room that is not designed for rock performances.

The venue is quite nice but it is not designed for electrically amplified music. It's designed to amplify acoustic music performances. The reflections it adds are well suited for an orchestra or an operatic vocalist but not so great for a rock band. These kinds of reflections and  audio artifacts present themselves differently at each venue.

We do the best we can to find the most suitable venues with the promoter but it always depends on price and availability of the venue.

Regards, DZ

Agree with you boltonboy, the sound and mix were both very poor and spoiled the night for us - next time I'll go to the Sage. The Apollo might be a welcome change next tour.

boltonboy

Is it me or is Bridgewater Hall, a lovely venue, not the greatest with rock band acoustics? And are we too old to stand up during the encore? After the previous gig there when the audience let their hair down I felt awkward standing up to appreciate two and a half hours of challenging amazing music. The attendance was good however but I'm tempted to say the Apollo maybe my preferred Manchester venue.

boltonboy

One more request "Orange County Lumber Truck"!!

boltonboy

I'm looking forward to the third row tomorrow at Mcr, the last time I was at the back. Hoping to meet some of you down the front. I'd love to hear more SG. Simon.

Graham

I'd like to hear Son of Mr Green Genes and Blessed Relief please.

marie s.

It Just Might be a One Shot Deal means a lot to me and my husband. He saw FZ live three times while I stayed at home with the kids. This is our song. Titties and Beer, Doreen and Fine Girl too please!

Richard Drakes

Probably not this tour, but how about The Planet of My Dreams sometime?

Ciaran Cunningham

My requests are Echindas Arf / Imaginary Diseases / Debra Kedabra

hoops

(Cool! Now going to this one as well as Edinburgh...thanks Ob!)

Treacherous Cretins would be my request...i'd like to see JT  & DZ doing their stuff on that one.

boltonboy

Looking forward to seeing the band again. I'd like to hear plenty of jazzzzzzzzzzzzz!!! It's about time Dweez threw a track off "Go for what you know" in there too. The ZPZ 14 minute version of Inca Roads would top the cake! Let's hope there's a free range dance contest again!!

John(Lizweedus)

This show's for my birthday. I know it's gonna be a good one.
