Accommodations are provided by Full Moon ResortThe Alpine Inn and The Slide Mountain Forest House. All camp activities will be held on-site at Full Moon Resort, with the Alpine Inn and Slide Mountain House a close mile and a half down the road.

If you do not sign up with a roommate, a same sex roommate will be assigned to your room. It is our strong recommendation that you reserve your space at camp as early as possible, especially if you prefer a single room.

ACCOMMODATIONS:

Full Moon Resort accommodations are charming in their simplicity, with campsites available as well. Acres of fields, meadows, forests and streams provide a natural backdrop for a wonderful and memorable experience. Full Moon offers an eclectic array of rustic, country-inn style accommodations. Room styles vary from bed and breakfast syle with shared-hall bathrooms to rooms with private bathrooms, cottages, and even a yurt. Accommodations at Full Moon Resort do not have telephones, televisions or air conditioning. Additionally, there are no daily housekeeping services for rooms. Wi-Fi internet is available throughout the facility, cable television is available in the library, and complimentary telephone service is available for local and long distance calls as cell phones do not work in this area of the forest preserve. If you need to make international calls, please remember to bring a calling card. Full Moon offers a spring-fed swimming pool, on-site access to the Esopus Creek and is just minutes from major Catskill Mountain hiking trails.

The Alpine Inn features welcoming rooms in chalet-style buildings. All accommodations at the Alpine Inn have private bathrooms, modern amenities (cable television, heat/AC, telephone and wireless Internet) as well as daily housekeeping services. Additionally, all rooms have private balconies. The Alpine Inn offers an outdoor swimming pool beautifully situated on a hillside overlooking the valley, surrounded by tall pines, woods and streams.

The Slide Mountain Forest House offers refreshing mountain air and cool, restful nights. The Esopus Creek runs through the resort with major trailheads nearby. Wireless internet, private bathrooms and cozy accommodations are all part of the Slide Mountain Forest House experience.

GEAR & EQUIPMENT:

Dweezil, like his father, Frank Zappa was, is adamant about using only the highest quality audio equipment and gear. To this end, everything provided at Dweezilla will be of the highest professional quality and personally approved by the members of Zappa Plays Zappa. While we encourage you to bring your own instrument, extra strings, tuner, sticks, etc., please let us know what you need available to you at camp and we will do our best to accommodate you. Dweezilla will provide some equipment (i.e. guitar and bass amps, drum kits, keyboards, etc.).  We are also excited to announce that our friends at Paul Reed Smith Guitars have made some of the finest guitars out there available for you to use at Dweezilla!

NOT ENOUGH? THERE'S MORE! A product specialist from Fractal Audio will be on-hand at Dweezilla to walk you through everything you need to know about building your own signature sound, leading discussions and answering all of your questions about the Axe-FX and your rig.

IT JUST KEEPS GETTING BETTER! Pedals, Pedals, Pedals! Voodoo Lab will be providing their newest and greatest pedals (with a very special Dweezilla twist) for you to play with. Current Vice President of Voodoo Lab, James Santiago, is coming to camp! James will be leading his own workshop, giving demonstrations and, we are very excited to say, will be there all week giving you plenty of time to pick his brain! James has previously developed guitar products for Line 6 and Digidesign/Avid. He's written for Guitar Player magazine, and as a guitarist/composer, he’s created music for ABC/ Disney, NBC, Showtime, Discovery Channel, numerous national commercials, and recreated tracks by Eric Johnson and Santana for the Guitar Hero III video game.

** For those who are not familiar, FOH mixes also known as board tapes are generally not pleasant to listen to because they are not created for the purpose of delivering a fully formed mix to a home listener. They are generated from the source that is serving the venue audience. In other words, the engineer is balancing the mix for the live audience based on all of the factors of the environment that particular night. If the room is very bass heavy, many of those frequencies will be cut in the mix, possibly making it sound anemic on the reference recording but right for the mix in the venue. If instruments are too loud from the stage they will likely be quiet in the FOH mix. The reason for this is that instruments need to be fed from the mix console to the PA. If there are loud instruments on stage that are heard well by the audience and engineer purely from the stage volume they will not be included as much in the PA speaker system in the venue. This is a very common variable that is dealt with throughout all of the shows on tour. Each night is different and it's difficult to get true consistency.

But there are other times when the balance is pretty good. Sometimes great! Having listened to all of our FOH mixes I've found some great examples where they are well balanced and made a record out of them.

When things cannot be multitracked FOH refs become master recordings and sometimes capture amazing performances. Because of that very reason I chose to examine the FOH library of recordings I have that fit the above description and make this record.
