If this guitar was stolen, then surely there should be some legal action that could be taken to have it returned to the family.  As far as I'm concerned this auction is laundering stolen goods.   Is there an attorney in the house ?

Donald brought it to my home before he died. I played it at Donald's funeral. It was way too big for me. His sister took it and eventually sold it. I was hoping for one of his friends to actually play on it!

I can only imagine what losing a guitar with that kind of history would feel like.  I only know what it feels like to have sold guitars by choice and then regretted it afterwards, and that's not nice.

I'd love to have the gold top returned to the family.

For those interested, the Les Paul Goldtop mentioned was auctioned in 2006.

Here is more info on that guitar (they don't mention it as being stolen):

As i (and him) just found out, my dad actually owns a 336. We bought it off of Ebay awhile back, and always thought it was a 335, but he just looked up the original paperwork and it is indeed a cherry colored 336. pretty cool! I love the way it sounds and plays

There has been a heated debate about which guitar FZ was using at the Casino concert. I think it was the really brown 335. I know FZ used it when Mr & Mrs Lennon joined the Mothers in NYC, and the 200 Motels film. I have held and inspected the 1952 Goldtop in 2006. It has a fabulous neck, I even sneaked the neck dimensions whilst no-one was looking. Frank put a Tele bridge pickup in the centre - which butchered the wood a bit, and I noted that he replaced the Klusons with very early Schallers. 6 tone and vol controls, and a tele selector switch by the gibson 'Lead/Rhythm' selector.
