I was speaking about this guitar to a friend maybe 3 days ago. Don't search for the Grail anymore, it's right there!

FRUIE THE COSMIK DEBRIS

SmileDweezil,

Personaly i don't know much about the working's of a guitar i just know i love to hear the Great musicians play them. And you my friend are in no doubt one of them. A chip right off the block. Your dad is watching all this and i know he's smileing ear to ear saying to himself ahhhh! that's my boy. Just seeing the Hendrix/Frank Zappa strat gives me goosies all over. I want my picture taken with that guitar and the dzpz band. Well keep up all the good work you do so well and keep touring. Please make another stop in buffalo until that show ill see you 6/26/12 at the rochester jazz fest . ill have my sharpie's ready to keep you busy after the concert.

peace out fruie.

Like Dweezil said, this guitar changed appearance many times, here changed to maple neck. Another picture of it on guitar stand in background. Still trying to figure out the pick-ups. Looks like duct tape holding them in place?Fz07

I was lucky enough to see FZ playing this guitar 10/24/78 Springfield, MA

Of all of your guitars, this one is definitely my fave. Just the fact that Jimi and your dad played it is beyond wonderful. You are truly blessed!

Check out this image from "Record Review." It shows the tuners are gold and the triangle plate is metal, not gold. Plus the "shark fin" is pretty yellowed in this image.

Imagine what you could get for that guitar at ebay ;-)

Dweezil, Next time you have the strings off can you take some pictures under the pickguard and in the neck pocket? Would be great to see! Nice to see the big head stock back..But ultimatley would love to see the guitar with all original per year neck, guard as when Hendrix played it...Great anyway! More Pics!!! :-) Strats, strats and more strats!!!!! JS Lyson

I think this version says "Frank" so much, only because we can all recall that Guitar Player Magazine cover. I still love the red tortoise shell with reverse headstock look too. Looks like much of the charring has flaked off since '78.

Christopher Lingsch

I would love to play that thing, goosebumps or not.I ain't scared!! Plus I am a lefty so it would be only proper in honor of Mr.Hendrix don't you think? All seriousness you have a peice of musical magic right there. That's so excellent.

That is great news, what FZ asked for  was the best the guitar sounded. I hope you can find some of the old bits, but some may have rotted away or lost by now. Sorry I bitched at you earlier.

Dancar

I would just ask that your restoration not include wearing 1970s tight pants like your Dad's.   ;-)

Gee, I DON"T like your pants!

HowieZowie

How did you go about replicating the electronics?

rc

Awesomeness.

whoa...just having something like that in your possessian has to feel good. I can almost imagine some sort of cartoon orchestra going off in the background when ever it is picked up with birds flying, fireworks happening and perhaps the guitar making a slight smirk whenever it is in the hands of a monster guitar player as though it has a soul.

Just something my odd imagination sees....
